Summer Lovin’ – Home Improvement Tips for the Summertime
It happens every year: dandelions take seed, the air fills with flying fuzzy wonders and we’re all left looking at our yard…wondering what happened to the “clean, lean, green” look we left behind last fall. Well, never fear – there are some quick weekend projects that you can undertake in order to snap your home and yard into tip-top shape before the weather gets too hot to make those outdoor chores less than enjoyable.
- Weeds – waiting for rain. When the soil is moist, weed pulling and general lawn grooming is miles easier. After the next rain is fresh on your lawn, put on those gloves and head outside. Weeds will pop right out and you won’ be bombarded with the “flying fuzzies” as you evict those dandelions from your rose garden.
- Grass seed – use shower power. Again, after a nice rain is a great time to lay down some grass seed in those bare areas of your lawn. If you’re due for a rainy week, even better! You’ll not only save water during that critical first week after paying down seed, but you’ll be one step shead of a lush, green lawn.
- Trim to win – accent painting. With the temperatures being cooler still, it’s a great time to touch-up or even repaint the trim work on the outside of the house. Along with an increase in curb appeal, you’re sure to add a smile to your face each and every day when you come home and see your handiwork staring back at you! Remember that painting when the humidity is high lengthens drying time and can even prevent some paints from setting up. Check your local weather forecast for the best days coming up and grab a brush!
