Ridgway Colorado – The Gateway to the San Juans
Located in the scenic Uncompahgre Valley, Ridgway Colorado is surrounded by the magnificent snow-capped peaks of the San Juan and Cimarron Mountains, rightfully earning it the title of “The Gateway to the San Juans.”
The town was named for Robert M. Ridgway, a railroad superintendent for the Rio Grande Southern Railroad, who established the town 1891. As the railhead center, Ridgway provided service to the nearby mining towns of Ouray and Telluride.
Today, Ridgway has all of the modern day conveniences, but still holds the charm of the Old West. If you’re looking for rich fertile land and ample space to enjoy unobstructed views of the natural beauty that is Colorado, Ridgway is the place for you.
