Three Tips for Working With a Realtor
Thursday, January 13th, 2011Whether you’re buying or selling your home, a relationship with your chosen real estate professional is key. But unlike what many people think, your realĀ estate professional needs quite a bit of help from you to make your homebuying and selling experience as successful as it can possibly be! In the Jerry Maguire sense, help us help you. We put together a handy list of three tips for working with your Realtor that will help you get into or out of the place you call home with ease!
Working with a Realtor (tip #1): Clutter has to go – If you’re selling your home, consider renting a portable storage container to take all of the non-essentials out of your home for staging. A clutter-free homes shows better than one filled to the gills with all we own. Remember – selling your home is about helping potential buyer envision themselves there, not making them wonder how everything is going to fit!
Sync Your Schedules (tip #2): Always let your Realtor know when you’re not going to be available. This is essential for home buyers and sellers. If selling, make sure you have a lock box and arrangements for any family pets to be put safely out of the way during showings by a neighbor or a friendly Realtor. When buying, we need to know when you’re not around so we can take you to see potential homes fresh on the market.
Pricing Boundaries (tip #3): Know before you go in what your pricing boundaries are and where you’re willing to budge. You may need to be prepared to lower your sales price if your home isn’t selling. Buyers may need to raise their price threshold in order to get what they’re looking for in a certain area or market. Get pre-approved for your loan and have room to wiggle.
