Real Estate News You Can Use: Independence Day Edition 2010
Thursday, July 1st, 2010The entire staff of San Juan Realty, Inc. would like to wish you and yours a delightful upcoming Independence Day weekend! Temperatures are scorching nationwide, so we’re hoping you find a cool breeze to accompany your relaxing (or active!) pursuits and have great meadows and rooftops to watch the fireworks from.
Here are the highlights of this week’s news in bullet fashion since we know you’re ready for the week to end. Enjoy the snippets!
- The $8,000 first-time home buyer credit may be extended until September of this year. It’s headed up Capitol Hill towards the Oval Office and we’re excited to see the ultimate outcome.
- Apparently Manhattan housing is on the rebound. In a city where an apartment comes with a hefty price tag, we don’t quite know what to do with the news that a little 1,200 square foot piece of the Big Apple will cost you $1.2 million. Go, Manhattan!
- Foreclosed homes represented 31% of all housing sales during the first quarter of this year and buyers paid, on average, 27% less for those properties.
- Got a million plus? You, too, could live in the Happiest Place on Earth. Disney World in Florida unveiled an on-property housing development with homes ranging from $1.5 to $8 million. Apparently you CAN buy happiness. (read the article here)
