Vacation Rentals: Tips for Traveling
Friday, March 4th, 2011We’re talking about something a little different than buying your family’s dream home today. What do you do when you want to go mobile and do some exploring? Your options for accommodations when you travel are pretty much endless, so we wanted to give you a few tips that you can use on the road to find the best “soft place to land” at the end of your busy day. Don’t worry, we’ll start with a great tip for homeowners, too!
Travel quite a bit? Make your home a vacation rental. There are a variety of websites that make it easy to list your property for the dates you’ll be gone. You can even work with a local property manager to list your home as a rental, especially if you live close to resort areas (like we do). Maybe you leave town during peak season to avoid the hustle. Why not make some cash while you’re out and about?
Online vacation rental listing services let you book direct. Whether you’re headed to Europe or traveling across the United States and Canada, there are lots of websites that let you skip the hotel side and stay more local. From flats in London to private homes in Connecticut, sites like VRBO and HomeAway let you browse by locale, price range and type of property and see if properties are available on your travel dates.
There are even properties is our area of the San Juans listed on those websites! If you’re coming to town, don’t forget to check out our local events calendar. We cover the best of what’s in Telluride, Ridgway, Ouray and Montrose and would love to see you around town.
