We all know the Dow sank down again this week, but what do you do in a down economy if you find yourself needing or wanting to sell your home? We polled our pros here at San Juan Realty, Inc. and asked them for their thoughts on the top three things homeowners can do to help sell their home in a down economy. Here are their best tips:
Spend a little, get a lot. Low cost home improvements like fresh neutral-colored paint, steam cleaned carpets and a professionally cleaned house can net you big returns on showings. They key is to know what’s for sale in your area and make your home one of the top contenders aesthetically.
Offer buyer incentives. If you’re willing to contribute to closing costs or offer allowances like a roofing allowance, landscaping allowance or flooring allowance, you’re giving buyers even more incentive to schedule a showing and choose your home over another similar option.
Professional photos. Face it – photos are what sell a buyer on scheduling a showing and that’s the first step towards a sale. Spend a little extra to have a photographer come in and shoot your home. Clear out extra clutter and keep it in storage through the sale period and show your potential buyers how THEY can fit into your space.
